A pared down, no frills video of the band playing the song in a studio seems like it would be kind of boring, but David Fincher’s vision captivates with close-up’s and tightly cropped framing.
Coldcut’s “Timber” is a song compromised of the sounds of logging juxtaposed with the sounds of the forest and aboriginal singing from a rainforest tribe. The video uses a cut up sample style to compliment the cut up audio show the plight of the forests and the creatures in it.
Something about the melancholy Cure makes me happy. I am not sure why.
“All is Full of Love” by Bjork directed by Chris Cunningham
“All is Full of Love is an elegant, moving description of two Björk robots in love. As they are pieced and wired into existence, they sing to each other and fall in love. The video reaches its harmonious climax as the robots join in embrace while still being detailed by the industrial machines beside them. Each robot was designed by Cunningham, faces reminiscent of Björk’s own delicate features.” Director-File.com
The Orb’s Blue Room was one of the early ambient like tracks that left an impression on me. U.F. Orb is an amazing album.
